Press Statement

We deemed it necessary to make the following statement upon the publication of a news report entitled “Informatics courses to be cancelled!” at the internet sites.

The mentioned news report included statements such as, “Unions have been informed by the Head Council of Education and Morality that Informatics Technologies and Software lessons which is obligatory for fifth and sixth grade to become an elective course for 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades at secondary school starting from 2015-2016 school year and that the ministry has asked unions to present their views on the issue.”

As it is known, the “Informatics Technologies and Software” courses are obligatory for 5th and 6th grade students and are elective for 7th and 8th grade students.

Cancelling “Informatics Technologies and Software” courses or making changes in the class hours is not on the agenda of our ministry and allegations that the unions were notified and asked their views on the issue are groundless.

We respectfully inform the public.
