Minister Avcı attends Digital Education Opportunities for Disabled Workshop

Minister of National Education Nabi Avcı attended the “Digital Education Opportunities for Disabled Workshop” organized by the General Directorate of Innovation and Education Technologies in Ankara.

Here are the highlights of Minister Avcı’s speech during the workshop:

“We are planning and implementing projects aiming at improving the opportunities provided for disabled citizens to benefit from the contents of the Education Information Network Platform”

“There are many different studies in our country aiming at providing equal opportunities in the accession of education technologies and improving the life quality of disabled citizens. As a part of these studies, the Ministry of National Education is planning and implementing projects aiming at improving the opportunities provided for disabled citizens to benefit from the contents of the Education Information Network Platform. Within this framework, we had organized a previous meeting on disabled citizens and informatics with the participation of representatives of various different disabled groups and exchanged views on FATİH project in education and accession of different disabled groups to the Education Information Network.

Many different groups have been intensively working in an effort to provide easier education opportunities for disabled citizens

A group of disabled teachers working in the İzmir region had organized a meeting on methods of better usage of the FATİH Project. The FATİH project, interactive boards, tablets, special education for visually impaired students, education information network were among the subjects which were discussed during this meeting. In addition, Association for the Visually Impaired Students had prepared a report entitled, “Necessary application for allowing visually impaired students and teachers to benefit from the FATİH Project.” As you can see, many different groups have been intensively working in an effort to provide easier education opportunities for disabled citizens. In this context and within the framework of FATİH Project, organizing a workshop in order to determine the needs of different disabled groups and solution proposals to the problems of these groups was a must. Due to this reason, we had organized this organization with the participation of academicians, especially those who are working at the disabled education departments of the universities, specialized teachers who are working in disabled schools and representatives of associations and foundations working for the benefit of disabled citizens. We will seek the expectations of disabled students from the FATİH project and how to fulfill the education needs of these students in this workshop.”
